Congress Overview
The Congress on the Future of Content
The Congress on the Future of Content is an initiative dedicated to improving access to high quality
content for teachers and students. The Congress is designed to bring together leaders from all
aspects of the educational publishing industry – print, digital and combined – including basal publishers,
supplemental publishers and companies serving those publishers, to examine and create the future of content
in education. During the initiative, publishers will listen to and interact with technology and textbook
representatives as well as superintendents, curriculum directors
and other educators from leading school districts across the country.
The initiative held its initial Congress on the Future of Content May 8-9, 2008 in Washington, D.C.
Another component of the Congress is the creation of working groups to further the goals of the overall initiative.
The first working group is creating a tool to assist school districts in determining how to assess their use of content.
This tool will also provide publishers and policy makers with crucial information on the extent to which school districts
are incorporating digital content.
The Congress on the Future of Content is an initiative designed to improve access to high quality content for
teachers and students and to increase the market for that content.
